about
"LOOKDOWN was a track that was cut from the 2019 self-titled release. It was repurposed for this benefit release. The last time I ever hung out with Kelley in person was in the Boston public gardens, thus the introduction. It's also how I feel sometimes. It may be the worst or best song I ever wrote, I still don't know how I feel about it but here it is anyways. Thanks"

lyrics
LOOKDOWN
the further you climb
the further you fall
so creep along
like spiders
silent up the wall
they say it's not where you're from
it's where you're at
well I'll remember that
when I am flat on my back
so break your silence
or break your fall
seems like I'll never quite be good enough
Man, I don't wanna be right
I just wanna belong
Will I ever quite get it right?
can't read the writing written on the wall
it said:
"you better stay beautiful
or they send just right back to where you belong"
so when the pendulum swings
and the gavel falls
which side of the lie do you wanna be on?
cause when the schools stain red
when the refugee begs
we off thoughts and prayers
no longer sacrosanct
so when you break your silence
who will break your fall?
tell me when will we be good enough?
but who wants to be "right" when they just wanna belong?
(but can we ever quite get it right?)
better heed the writing written on the wall:
it said:
"you better stay beautiful
or they send just right back to where you belong"
...yeah they send you just right back to where you belong
where you are alone again and you're trapped in song.
so remember when I threw that party and nobody came?
am I the only one to blame?
so lookdown and run
lookdown and run
cause you don't need them
cause there's a world outside
that knows you're half alive
so just keep breathing
A friend with a reliably fine musical taste posted this album on FB and I wasn't disappointed. Love the guitar sound and the passionate vocals (melodic enough to not pass as screamo or whatever). Punk rock spirit yet with a lot of dynamics (definitely a yes to the Dischord reference) and compact songs that won't leave your head for a long time. Many many
great tunes on here but for the moment USMA and Lay Low have to be my favorites! Great band, very happy to have found them! perpendikel
